The CEO Speaker Series with George Mulhern was a success!

The CEO Speaker Series at the Riverside Hotel held on August 9th, 2023 featured George Mulhern, CEO and Chairman of the Board at Cradlepoint. Mulhern shared the story of his company’s success as well as several nuggets of leadership wisdom.

For example, Mulhern shared the following values he tries to model and instill in his organization:
1. Stay Humble and Hungry… or we will be.

• Continuous learners, resilient, competitive, meet commitments, sense of urgency.

2. Don’t point a finger, lend a hand.

• One team, communicate, support, get it done, lift the team.

3. Make a difference.

• Prioritize, innovate, differentiate, think big, customer service, work and community.

4. Keep It Simple.

• Eliminate complexity for employees, customers and partners, reduce time to value.

5. Enjoy the ride.

• Celebrate, appreciate, grow.

6. Trust, Respect and Transparency

• Be ethical, no politics, every employee/role matters, data-driven, respectful, straight shooters, share openly.

George also shared a few of what he called his "learnings":

• “What a trifling difference must often determine which shall survive and which shall perish.” - Charles DarwinFind the optimal intersection of opportunity and risk.
• When stuck, remember what Arthur Ashe said in response to a reporter who asked him, “What does it take to be a champion?” Ashe replied, “Start where you are, use what you have and do what you can.
• ”Someone once asked Mulhern, “What one word would you use to define your business philosophy?” Mulhern said his answer then is still the same as it is now: “team.”
  “As a leader, you can never be better than your team. It’s impossible,” Mulhern said.

After a short Q&A with members of the audience, Mulhern left attendees with one last reminder. “You know, it’s not always about you…” He then revealed the quote is from his wife, Karen Mulhern, to which the crowd laughed in unison.
