KTVB President & GM Doug Armstrong to Receive First Boise Metro Chamber Hall of Fame Award

BOISE, ID – The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that Doug Armstrong, President and General Manager, KTVB News Group – NBC, is the first recipient of the Chamber’s Hall of Fame Award.
 
Armstrong was selected for the award by the Chamber’s Board of Directors for his sustained, positive contributions to the betterment of the Chamber and support for its mission to advocate for economic well-being, regional development, and quality of life. Armstrong will be honored at the 2013 Small Business of the Year & “Best of the Chamber” Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, May 15th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Boise Centre.
 
“Doug Armstrong is a leader among leaders,” said Bill Connors, President & CEO of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce. “Doug has spent many years working quietly, behind the scenes on behalf of many community organizations, and so we are excited to shine the spotlight on his significant contributions to the Chamber and to our community as a whole.”
 
Armstrong is a past Chairman of the Board of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Boise Valley Economic Partnership. He has also served the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games, Northwest Nazarene University Foundation, Drug Free Idaho, Cole Valley Christian Schools, Boise Public Schools Education Foundation, YMCA, and Regence Caring Foundation for Children, and was also a board member of the Honolulu Chamber of Commerce. Armstrong received gubernatorial appointments to four statewide committees, including the Idaho 2002 Olympic Committee, the Idaho Criminal Justice Council, the Youth Education Advisory Committee, and the Idaho 2010 Olympic Committee.
 
Prior to joining KTVB in 1996, Armstrong was the President and General Manager for KHNL-TV and KFVE-TV in Honolulu Hawaii. While at KHNL/KFVE he switched affiliations, built new facilities, started a newsroom, grew staffing, and launched local-news from the first all-digital newsroom in America. Armstrong also served as Assistant Business Manager of the University of Idaho for five years before entering the television industry.
 
Armstrong earned a degree in Business Administration from Whitworth University and completed dual executive development programs at Northwestern University and the University of Notre Dame.
