Today, the Boise Metro Chamber invited the officers and crew of the USS Idaho to the Chamber to thank them for their service and offer a platform to share about the namesake submarine.
The crew has spent the better part of two weeks touring Idaho to understand Idaho's beauty and culture. They each shared their experiences including seeing elk, attending a Broncos basketball game, a steelheads game, and snowmobiling in freezing weather. The officers and crew hope to bring these experiences back to share with the rest of the crew who will serve on the USS Idaho. They will also utilize their experiences to inspire the interior design of the submarine which will have a mountain scape in the dining area along with Idaho-themed tables. They also mentioned that the submarine will be christened uniquely, with water collected from Idaho lakes rather than champagne. Special thanks to the officers and crew of the USS Idaho!
