The Boise Metro Chamber is hosting Ramlah during her fellowship, with support from Visit Boise and BVEP! This is Ramlah's first time visiting the United States! Q: What is the YSEALI Professional Fellowship Program? A: The Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Professional Fellows Program is a two-way exchange program of the U.S. Department of State. Mid-level professionals, aged 25-35 are chosen through a highly competitive merit-based competition, to be hosted in the United States for about one month. Fellows are citizens of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste or Vietnam. The YSEALI PFP was designed to promote mutual understanding, enhance leadership and professional skills, and build lasting and sustainable partnerships between emerging leaders in Southeast Asia and the United States. Q: What is Ramlah's career in her home country? A: Ramlah is the Chief of the Department for Coordination of Loan Mobility Policy for the Timor-Leste Ministry of Finance. Q: What are Ramlah's goals during her YSEALI Fellowship? A: Ramlah wants to gain knowledge and understanding about ways to improve economic growth so that she can better define management objectives and design loan mobilization strategy at home in Timor-Leste. She also wants to improve her English skills (verbal and written) through working in the United States and mingling with Americans and friends from other countries.
