BOISE, ID – The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce announced its 2019 Small Business of the Year & Chamber Excellence Award winners during its annual awards luncheon last week. The Chamber has a long-standing tradition of recognizing its members’ excellence and celebrating the importance of small businesses to our community and our local economy.
The Chamber also honored Candi Allphin, former senior vice president at U.S. Bank and former Chair of the Boise Metro Chamber Board of Directors with the Chamber’s Hall of Fame Award. Previous Hall of Fame winners include Dr. Robert Kustra in 2017, Dennis Johnson in 2016, and Skip Oppenheimer in 2015. Candi Allphin is a retired Senior Vice President of U.S. Bank. She spent 38 years in the banking industry in leadership roles. She was a member of the Western Idaho Regional Leadership Team and Management Committee. She also served for many years as a member of the local U.S. Bancorp Foundation team. Her volunteer leadership roles in the community are extensive as past chair of many organizations, including the Boise Metro Chamber, the Idaho Banker’s Association, the Boise State Foundation, the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, the Junior League of Boise, the Idaho Botanical Garden, and the Boise State Alumni Association. She currently serves on the Board of the Idaho Community Foundation as Chair-Elect, the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation, the Boise State Foundation, the Arid Club, and is a commissioner for the Idaho State Building Authority. She also serves as an advisor at the Pacific Coast Banking School. Her awards include Boise State University Distinguished Alumni, Leadership Boise Community Service Award, TWIN, the Junior League of Boise Community Service and President’s awards, and Idaho Business Review Women of the Year. The winners of the other categories were: Small Business of the Year (small-size category) – Zee Christopher Small Business of the Year (medium-size category) – Bronco Motors Nonprofit Excellence – Idaho Youth Ranch Financial Services Industry Excellence – Idaho Central Credit Union Food & Agriculture Industry Excellence – Albertsons Healthcare Industry Excellence – Optum Travel Industry Excellence – Boise Centre Government Advocate of the Year – Heidi Hart, Terry Reilly Health Services “Celebrating small business is job one for our Chamber. These businesses make up the bulk of our membership and the job creation in our community” said Boise Metro Chamber President & CEO Bill Connors. “Please support all these businesses, as they are all giving back to our communities growth and prosperity” The Chamber received a large number of applications for this year’s awards.
