Boise Young Professionals members and non-members gathered on December 14, 2022 to participate in the first annual YP Summit. Entitled Empowering the Leaders of Tomorrow, attendees learned about tools to help them develop as leaders in their communities. During the Breakout Session #1B, Jimmy Hallyburton and Erin Anderson shared their thoughts about Community Engagement and Volunteerism and why it's important to give back.
During the session, moderated by Emily Baker of Portman Square Group, a microphone was passed around the audience and an impressive number of people shared about the non-profit work and volunteering they do for the betterment of the Treasure Valley. A big takeaway for those who attended was shared by Jimmy Hallyburton. He suggested trying to volunteer at several different places until you find one that fits the culture you are looking for. Hallyburton said that it may be in a completely different sector than you imagined, but if the culture is right, you'll know that's where you're supposed to be.
