Bogus Basin announced today that daily operations will begin at the non-profit on Thursday, December 1st. Open terrain remains limited to runs and a terrain park off the Deer Point Express, Morning Star Express and Coach Chairlifts, and 27km of groomed Nordic trails. A strong storm system is forecast to hit the area later this week, delivering up to twenty-two inches of snow, allowing additional terrain to open as soon as conditions allow.
“November delivered a mix of natural snowfall and ideal snowmaking conditions, resulting in our very early opening and good riding conditions on the front side of the mountain. The snow forecast looks favorable over the next several days, and we will open additional terrain as conditions allow.” Nate Shake – Director, Mountain Operations “It is thrilling to offer night operations for the community this early in December. https://idahopreferred.com/holiday-gift-box-2022 Bogus Basin announced today it will ease into winter operations this weekend with three chairlifts and three conveyer lifts, marking the earliest opening at the not-for-profit recreation area in 28 years.
“Our team remains committed to bringing the winter experience to the community as soon as it is safe to do so,” said General Manager, Brad Wilson. “With snowmaking, we now have more control over our opening date. We are thrilled to share the exciting news that Bogus Basin’s 80th Anniversary Season will launch on November 19th, our earliest opening date in 28 years.” The soft opening includes seven trails (Alpine, Showcase, Bogus Creek, Upper & Lower Ridge, Sourdough, Stewart’s Bowl and Coach), an industry leading terrain park, and 20 km of Nordic trails. The opening is limited to eligible season pass holders. A restricted quantity of 100 reduced price lift tickets is available online, advance purchase only. Earlier this month, a series of storms dumped over three feet of snow at the area. More recently, cold and dry conditions that are ideal for snowmaking set in, allowing enough snow to accumulate to open top-to-bottom runs served by the Deerpoint Express, Showcase and Coach chairlifts, and all three conveyer lifts. Area officials consider the limited opening an opportunity for employees and guests to acclimate to new RFID technology installed at the area over the summer. The new system allows pass holders and guests to access the lifts with their season pass or lift ticket in the pocket of their jacket. “This technology is new to everyone, and we ask guests to be patient as our seasonal employees get to know the system,” said Wilson. “Ultimately, it will make for a much more seamless user experience at the lifts.” BOGUS BASIN 2022-23 “SOFT” SEASON OPENING OPERATING PLAN:
