Camp Invention®, a nationally recognized, nonprofit summer enrichment program, is coming to Sage International School the week of July 10 -July 14, 2023.
A program of the National Inventors Hall of Fame®, in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Camp Invention challenges children in grades K-6 to tap into their natural curiosity and use their creativity to solve problems. Through hands-on activities, Camp Invention promotes STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) learning; builds confidence, leadership, perseverance and resourcefulness; and encourages entrepreneurship - all in a fun and engaging environment. Each year, the program features a new curriculum inspired by some of our nation's most world-changing inventors - the National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees. This year's Wonder program encourages children to be confident in their ideas and explore their innovativeness though hands-on activities including: Catching Air™: Taking a confidence-building ride through physics, engineering and art, children design and build their own skate park. Invention Celebration™: Campers take on the role of event planners as they throw a party celebrating creativity and innovation. MimicBot™: Children show their unique style when they transform a robot that mimics sounds into a one-of-a-kind animatronic stuffie. Pop-Up Venture™: Big ideas come to life as campers design their own mini pop-up business. "Both of my kids loved Camp Invention! They loved having the opportunity to create, innovate and iterate what they had learned," said the parent of 2022 Camp Invention campers. "They were intensely proud to tell of their work each day and to showcase their projects at the end of the week." All local Camp Invention programs are facilitated and taught by qualified educators who reside and teach in the community. Camp Invention serves 118,000 students every year and partners with more than 2,200 schools and districts across the nation. For more information or to register, visit invent.org/camp. About Camp Invention: Camp Invention is the only nationally recognized summer program focused on creativity, innovation, real-world problem solving and the spirit of invention. Through hands-on programming, Camp Invention encourages children entering kindergarten through sixth grade to explore science, technology, engineering and mathematics curricula inspired by some of the world's greatest inventors. Since 1990, our education programs have served more than 2.2 million children, and 229,000 teachers and Leadership Interns. Regional program sponsors include the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Celebrate Pi Day with artisanal pies that taste as good as they look What better way to celebrate Pi Day than with a handmade, artisanal pie? Downtown Boise just got a whole lot sweeter with local favorite, Piedaho, now open at The Warehouse Food Hall, located at 370 S. 8th Street in BoDo. Based in Hailey, Idaho, Piedaho is a family-owned bakery bringing award-winning pies from the beautiful mountains of Idaho to tables across the country. Now, Boiseans don’t need to wait for their slice, as these pies are available for purchase at The Warehouse Food Hall. Piedaho creates artisanal pies that taste as good as they look, thanks to high quality, local ingredients. Owner and pastry chef, Rebecca Bloom, and her team bake and decorate each pie by hand and flash freeze them before shipping them off to households across the country. Piedaho pies were named one of Oprah’s Favorite Things for 2019 and earned recognition in Food & Wine as the best pie in Idaho. “We’re so excited to be part of The Warehouse Food Hall and be around other creative food businesses,” said Rebecca Bloom, owner of Piedaho. “The Warehouse is a place where you can try all kinds of unique food and we can’t wait for visitors to give our sweet treats a try.” Piedaho joins the lineup of more than a dozen independently owned food and drink establishments inside The Warehouse Food Hall, including Freshie’s Lobster, Co., which opened its doors to the public in February. “We couldn't be more excited to have Piedaho at the food hall, bringing their incredibly delicious and beautiful pies to the people of Boise,” said Jeff Whiteman, COO at Geronimo Hospitality Group. “We know locals and visitors alike will be drawn to Piedaho – it's the perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth or grab dessert on the go.” To learn more about Piedaho, visit www.piedaho.com and to learn more about The Warehouse Food Hall, visit www.warehouseboise.com.
