Our premier leadership program for business and civic leaders.
Leadership Boise (LB) has, and continues to seek, the most energetic and engaged leaders in the Treasure Valley. As one of the longest running Chamber sponsored leadership programs in the United States, Leadership Boise has graduated more than 1,500 rising and establish leaders since its inception in 1975.
Participants who are accepted to the program on an annual basis attend monthly, day-long sessions about relevant and pressing topics that affect and impact living and working in Boise. Our leaders extensively examine the past, present, and future of the Boise Metro area. Through the intentional curriculum and sessions, our leaders benefit from hearing a variety of perspectives and developing a foundation to expand their leadership in the community. 2019 Service Project
Each year, the first-year Leadership Boise class organizes and executes a service project for a local nonprofit organization in the Treasure Valley. Leadership Boise Academy students are invited to join the class for the project as another opportunity to connect, serve and lead in our community.
On Saturday April 13, members of the Leadership Boise Class of 2020 and the Leadership Boise Academy Class of 2019 participated in a service project at the top of Table Rock mesa. Approximately 70 Leadership Boise members picked up litter, cleared fire hazards, removed and/or painted over graffiti, and put a fresh coat of white paint on the iconic ‘B’. “An annual service project is an important component of the Leadership Boise program,” said Cornelia Sprung of RedBuilt, chair of the planning committee. “And this was an especially fun one—working outdoors on such a visible landmark as the Boise ‘B’.” “When I moved to Boise, everyone told me you must climb Table Rock,” shared Bill Peters of Icon Credit Union, committee scribe. “I finally did and now I understand what the big deal is. The view is simply breathtaking.” Table Rock has been a beloved landmark for thousands of years. It is not only visually interesting but of cultural significance to many of Idaho’s native people. Before white settlers arrived in the area, at least nine different tribal nations would travel from all over the Northwest to Table Rock to trade, and to participate in ceremonies, sports and games. It was neutral ground and viewed as sacred. “Today, graffiti and vandalism are really an ongoing struggle at Table Rock monument. It’s something that happens every spring, when the weather gets nicer,” stated Amber Beierle, Historic Sites Administrator for Idaho State Historical Society, the agency charged with care of the site. “We really appreciate community support like this. Table Rock belongs to all of us.” |
