Brad Little is Idaho’s 33rd Governor, leading the people of Idaho through the most prosperous time in state history. His tenure as Governor is marked by unprecedented red tape reduction, record tax relief, and historic investments in education, workforce training, and infrastructure. On Wednesday, August 21, 2024 Governor Little delivered remarks and answered several questions from the audience at the Grove Hotel during the Chamber's annual "Governor's Address to the Community" event. Gov. Little’s speech focused on key areas: workforce development, infrastructure, public health initiatives, and natural resource management. He emphasized the need to balance economic growth while acknowledging that the growing pains Idaho is experiencing are part of the state’s rapid development. Gov. Little also discussed the sustainable management of Idaho’s natural resources, particularly water, and outlined strategies to meet the needs of Idaho’s agricultural sector and expanding urban areas while ensuring responsible resource use. A significant portion of the address was dedicated to Idaho’s economic vitality and the state’s innovative approach to fostering growth. Gov. Little highlighted how strategic investments in infrastructure and business development are driving economic progress, even as other states seek waivers for federal requirements to spur growth. Gov. Little emphasized that continued improvements in transportation, broadband, and public utilities are essential for supporting both urban and rural communities across Idaho. Gov. Little also commended Idaho’s educational campaigns aimed at raising awareness among young people about the dangers of fentanyl. Public health remains a central priority, with ongoing efforts to protect Idaho’s youth and communities. Gov. Little also spotlighted the Idaho Launch program, designed to equip residents with the skills necessary for today’s job market, particularly in healthcare. He acknowledged the challenges the program has faced, including initial implementation hurdles and feedback from participants about the need for more tailored support. Despite these challenges, the Governor reaffirmed his commitment to refining the program to better meet the needs of Idaho’s workforce and ensure its long-term success.
