From Silicon Valley to Special Operations to Small Business: Boise Entrepreneur Finds His Calling in Flooring

8/11/2026

Kirez Reynolds has done more in one lifetime than most do in five. His love of detail and obsession with his interests has led to an interesting, varied résumé that includes working alongside early internet pioneers, investing in Bitcoin before it became a household name, owning CrossFit gyms, and training Navy SEALs. So when he purchased a Footprints Floors franchise in Boise this year, it seemed like an unexpected next step.

But for Reynolds, every career has been built on following his instincts and curiosity. His professional career began at Cornell University, where Reynolds taught internet courses before the World Wide Web became available to the public. He built websites, developed business intelligence databases for major consulting firms, and even wrote philosophy pages on one of the earliest online encyclopedia projects that would eventually become Wikipedia. However, all that online, sitting at the computer all day, was wearing on his physical health.

Determined to change course, Kiraz threw himself into Adventure Racing, an off-road multi-sport competition. The races introduced him to former members of SEAL Team Two, who eventually recruited him to help manage their company before asking him to become a fitness trainer for East Coast SEAL teams.

“I did have a lot of energy because I was young and I was obsessive,” he said. “I never watched TV. I slept five hours a night, and just was going hard all the time.”

Reynolds’ career continued to evolve. He owned CrossFit gyms, consulted in the cryptocurrency industry, and sold advanced engineering technology for the construction industry. He loved construction technology, but was ready to stop working on computers. Then, the pandemic prompted Reynolds and his family to relocate.

“I started looking at Idaho where I could raise my kids because I wanted mountains and rivers and lakes and forests,” he said.

He trained as a lineman before realizing the travel would keep him away from his wife and four children. Despite the diverse résumé, flooring ultimately became the next step. The business combines his love of construction and allows him to specialize in one service for a simpler model that allows for more time with his family.

Reynolds is putting just as much attention to detail and rigor into the flooring business as his past ventures.

“I understand everything about the flooring systems. I simply carry out what I promise to do and I follow up. I do not abandon customers, and I do not neglect them,” he said. “I will keep on solving problems until they love their floors. That's what I do.”

New Downtown Parking Options Now Available in CCDC's ParkBOI Public Garage System

8/4/2026

BOISE, Idaho – Capital City Development Corporation (CCDC) has launched five new and expanded ParkBOI parking products to provide employees, employers, and visitors more flexible ways to park in downtown Boise. There are no waiting lists for the new products which launched on August 1. The new products complement ParkBOI's existing parking options, including First Hour Free, which remains available daily from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The new products were created in response to feedback from current passholders and input gathered during public outreach efforts. They offer more flexible parking solutions for hybrid employees, businesses managing employee parking, evening and weekend hospitality workers, and customers who want the convenience of pass-style garage access without committing to a traditional monthly pass. The new lineup includes the Limited Pass, All Access Pass, Hourly Parking Passport, Overnight Pass, and Shared Monthly Account.

"Downtown Boise doesn't operate on a one-size-fits-all schedule, and parking shouldn't either," said Zach Piepmeyer, CCDC Parking and Mobility Director. "We listened to our customers and the downtown community, then developed more flexible parking options that reflect how people work, visit, and do business today. Whether someone commutes every day, works a hybrid schedule, manages employee parking, or enjoys downtown in the evenings, there's now a ParkBOI product designed to meet their needs while helping keep downtown accessible for everyone."

New ParkBOI Products
  • Hourly Parking Passport
A pay-as-you-go option offering pass-style garage access in all ParkBOI garages and automatic hourly billing without requiring a monthly parking commitment.
  • Overnight Pass
A reduced cost overnight parking option designed for restaurant employees, hospitality workers, healthcare professionals, and others working evening or overnight shifts.
  • Shared Monthly Account
A business-focused option allowing up to two employees to share a monthly parking pass at one designated garage, helping employers better manage parking for rotating staff.
  • Limited Pass
A discounted monthly option for employees who work downtown Thursday through Monday or have flexible work schedules
  • All Access Pass
A premium monthly pass providing unlimited access to every ParkBOI garage, ideal for professionals and businesses that regularly travel throughout downtown.

"Public parking is about much more than providing a place to leave your vehicle," said Piepmeyer. "It's an investment in downtown Boise's economy. A well-managed public parking system supports local businesses, helps employers attract and retain workers, improves access for visitors, and keeps downtown connected as our city continues to grow."

Unlike privately owned parking facilities, revenue generated through ParkBOI is reinvested back into Boise's public parking system to maintain existing garages, improve customer experience, support mobility initiatives, and strengthen downtown economic vitality. The new products reflect CCDC's ongoing commitment to providing parking options that better match how people live, work, and visit downtown today.
