THE FUTURE OF LEADERSHIP
The Boise Young Professionals 2024 YP Summit was held at The Riverside Hotel and offered a full day of networking, leadership skill development, learning and sharing opportunities.
The 2024 YP Summit theme, THE FUTURE OF LEADERSHIP, reflected the intentions of the Boise Metro Chamber and BYP to recognize the goals, interests, and passions of young professionals: to grow, innovate, connect, inspire, and lead. The keynote speaker was  the inspirational Corporal Kyle Wills, Boise Police Department. The event is designed for both established and developing professionals. 

The 2024 YP Summit included extra time for networking, close access to community leaders, and interaction with community nonprofit organization exhibits.

Nicole Cormier is an Organizational Change Management Specialist with Unleashing Leaders who has a passion for cultural transformation and leadership development.  She is both a graduate and mentor of Leadership Boise and continues to stay involved with the LBA program. Nicole is a graduate of the College of Idaho and holds two degrees from Northwest Nazarene University. Residing in Kuna with her husband, she dedicates her spare time to volunteering for the COPS (Concerns of Police Survivors) non-profit organization. Nicole's commitment to fostering positive change has led to the transformation of leaders and organizations throughout the western US.

Tommy Ahlquist is a visionary who combines a strong work ethic with a keen ability to seize opportunities and turn them into successful ventures. Starting as a teenage entrepreneur, he worked his way through medical school and a residency in emergency medicine while building a career that spanned 18 years in the ER, treating over 45,000 patients. Alongside his medical practice, Tommy founded Stat Pads in 2001 to revolutionize defibrillation services, and Ahlquist Development in 2004, which transformed cities across Idaho with its innovative projects.

With more than 3.5 million square feet developed and a total value north of 1.6 billion, Ahlquist Development has shattered expectations. Notable projects include Eagle View Landing- home of Idaho’s first TopGolf, Ten Mile Crossing, Pioneer Crossing, Eighth and Main, City Center Plaza and dozens of other sites and buildings.

“I’m often asked what my most memorable project or building is,” says Tommy. “My immediate answer is always this: the next one. The joy is in the process! We create places for people to work and spaces for families to live and play. What’s most rewarding is creating, building, and delivering new areas for our community to thrive.”
KENT ORAM - ICCU (RETIRED)

Kent Oram retired as CEO of Idaho Central Credit Union in December 2022. Idaho Central is one of the nation’s fastest growing credit unions and in his role as CEO, he oversaw overall operations of the Credit Union. Kent’s career with ICCU began in 1984 as the Data Processing Manager. He was named Executive Vice President in 1986. In 2007, Kent was selected as the President and CEO. Kent believes a successful organization must be focused on engaged and energized employees.

During his tenure as CEO, Kent built a world-class culture. Kent holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Idaho State University as well as Certified Chief Executive and Certified Credit Union Executive designations from the Credit Union Executive Society (CUES). He was presented with the CUES Rising 100 Award in 2006, was recognized as the CUES Outstanding Chief Executive Officer in 2013 and inducted into the CUES Hall of Fame in 2014. In 2015, Kent was named Idaho State Journal’s Professional of the Year, Idaho State University Alpha Kappa Psi selected Kent as the 2016 Idaho Business Leader of the Year, he was named a CEO of Influence by the Idaho Business Review in 2018, and an ICON recipient in 2020. Kent was recognized as one of Idaho’s 50 Most Influential Leaders in 2022.

In 2023, Kent was inducted into the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame and Credit Union House Hall of Leaders. Kent is a long-time resident of Eastern Idaho. He and his wife, Dawnette, have daughters Holly (Tony), Jodi , and Noelle (Clark). They love to shower their 13 grandchildren with love. Kent spends time with his
CLAY ANDERSON - BERKADIA

Clay Anderson is a Senior Managing Director of Investment Sales based in Boise, ID. Clay leads Berkadia in the region’s investment sales services and is recognized as the “go-to” for multifamily brokerage throughout Idaho and Montana. Clay Anderson joined Berkadia in January 2023 after 16+ years at Colliers International. While at Colliers, he transacted over $2.1 billion in sales totaling over 9,100 units. He consistently achieved the Colliers Everest Award, recognizing top 10% performance throughout North America. Prior to brokerage, Clay worked as a CPA at Deloitte and as a Financial Energy consultant at Pinnacle West Capital Corporation. Clients appreciate his ability to attentively listen, quickly assess, and solve problems.

MELANIE RUBOCKI, PERKINS COIE (MODERATOR)

Melanie Rubocki uses her foundation in finance and entrepreneurial studies to bring a business sensibility to her client relations and any negotiated transaction. She represents business clients from startup formation to exit, utilizing a proactive approach to help them avoid legal pitfalls. 
Melanie represents clients in various industries, counseling on emerging growth company issues, operating entity legal issues, and commercial transactions. She has also led clients in all forms and stages of equity and debt financings and has an active mergers and acquisitions (M&A) practice, advising both buy- and sell-side clients on complex M&A and other strategic business joint ventures and arrangements.  She also works with a range of investors and regularly assists directors and officers with board management, corporate governance, and fiduciary duty matters. 
Melanie is active in the community and serves on multiple nonprofit boards. 
Callie Zamzow - Zamzows

Callie Zamzow is a 4th generation leader of Zamzows, Inc., a 91-year-old, local, family-owned chain of lawn, garden, pet, and feed stores. With a degree in biology and a life-long seat at the foot of her father, Jim Zamzow, Callie loves the science behind the Zamzow proprietary products. She credits her success to curiosity, a unique family business philosophy, and her natural desire to connect with people.
Brian Franklin - PMF Capital Management

​Brian Franklin is the President of PMF Capital Management. He specializes in large-scale commercial acquisition and development, project management, marketing, and operations.

He prides himself on a commitment to structuring deals that benefit all parties involved and creating first class real estate environments. This means thinking creatively, balancing recognized national brands and unique local businesses as tenants, and always taking a team-oriented approach.

He has spent time on the board of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce in Washington state, as well as a regional branch of the Boys and Girls clubs of America.  The Company principals have been involved in giving lead gifts to Fred Hutch Cancer Research as well as many other community and philanthropic causes.  Brian is a graduate of the University of Arizona where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree. Brian lives in Eagle, where he resides with his wife and two daughters
Joel Schneider - ID43 Creative

​Joel Schneider grew up on a small farm in Mountain Home, Idaho, where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for the outdoors. His educational journey took him to Boise State University, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources and Entrepreneurship Management, followed by a Master's degree in Athletic Leadership.
In 2017, Joel began his professional career with Boise State Football as the Director of Football Operations, eventually becoming the Chief of Staff in 2022. During his tenure, he oversaw all logistics and operations, managed social media and branding, and led a team of 35 professional staff and numerous student staff members. This role honed his leadership and organizational skills and provided him with invaluable experience in high-pressure environments.
In January 2023, Joel ventured into the business world by owning and managing two Happy Teriyaki Restaurants. This entrepreneurial experience paved the way for the founding of ID43 Creative in October 2023. ID43 Creative is a full-service creative content agency dedicated to meeting the diverse needs of organizations in Boise and the surrounding areas. The agency's services range from graphics, photos, and videos to drone videography and a white-label dashboard for scheduling social posts.
Continuing his entrepreneurial journey, Joel acquired Onit Photos in June 2024 and established ID43 Real Estate, specializing in listing photos, drone tours, and 3D tours. That same year, he founded the Northwest Showdown, a four-game high school football event designed to provide additional exposure for athletes by featuring out-of-state schools competing against the best in-state teams.
In addition to his business ventures, Joel is passionate about coaching and currently serves as the Wide Receivers and Special Teams Coach at Rocky Mountain High School. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, exploring the beautiful Idaho outdoors, and spending quality time with his wife, Nicole, and their two dogs.
 
Paige Francis - Payette Brewing Co.

​Originally from Sacramento, Paige Francis attended Boise State University in 2009 and made Boise her new home. Paige studied Marketing and Graphic Design and graduated with her BFA in Graphic Design . . . all while enjoying everything the beautiful state of Idaho has to offer. With Paige’s passion for marketing, design, and craft beer, she knew working in the beer industry would be her dream career. It wasn’t long until Paige discovered Payette Brewing, a brand with similar values towards community involvement and outdoor recreation. Paige has worked at Payette Brewing for almost twelve years alongside her husband, who founded the brewery in 2011. Paige is the Marketing Director and Graphic Designer at Payette, and proud to have an awesome team that continues to help push the brand in the ever-changing craft beer industry. Paige is also a mom of two + her dog Winston, and continues to learn the balance of running a business and raising two toddlers.

Corporal Kyle Wills, Boise Police Department (LUNCH KEYNOTE)
​Corporal Kyle Wills is a motorcycle officer assigned to the Boise Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit. Kyle has been a police officer for 27 years, 24 of which have spent in the traffic safety and enforcement field, with 23 of those being on a police motorcycle. Kyle is a Law Enforcement Liaison for the Idaho Office of Highway Safety and works closely with over 30 other police and sheriff departments in southwest Idaho. He is currently serving as the Idaho Law Enforcement Liaison Chairman and additionally oversees a Strategic Highway Safety Plan Committee for the Highway Safety Office. He has also worked as a Legislative Liaison when it comes to traffic safety issues facing the Idaho Legislature, as well as, serving in a PIO capacity for the Boise Police Department when discussing traffic safety issues in the community, specializing in social media for the Boise Police Department.

Cpl. Wills graduated from BYU-I in Rexburg, Idaho with a Degree in Behavioral and Social Science. Kyle is married with three adult children, all of whom reside in the Boise area and attend Boise State University. In his spare time, he has coached football in the Boise area for over 15 years, is an avid bicyclist (currently have ridden every day for over 1,000 days straight), hunts and camps and generally enjoys the outdoors of Idaho and is a proud Idahoan.

From identifying and attracting the right people to niche teams, to building powerful interview processes, to cultivating a long-term, authentic cultures, to evaluating compensation and salary benchmarking—theirs is truly a holistic view of recruiting—with a strong emphasis on each companies’ unique needs. DANI JONES - ST. LUKE'S health partners

​Dani Jones is currently the Chief Operating Officer of St. Luke’s Health Partners, a clinically and financially integrated network covering 20+ counties in Southwest and South-Central Idaho and other small pockets throughout the state, serving approximately 275,000 beneficiaries. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Boise State University and earned her master’s degree in mental health counseling from Idaho State University while still working full time in healthcare.
 
Dani worked in managed care for Blue Cross of Idaho for nearly seven years before serving as the Executive Director of the Patient Quality Alliance, a clinically integrated network in Pocatello for five years. In 2019, Dani returned to Southwest Idaho as the Director of Operations for Saint Alphonsus Health Alliance, where she led value-based performance, quality improvement, risk adjustment and care transformation initiatives throughout the pandemic and served as the network’s Interim President for six months.
 
Dani’s past community involvement includes serving on the boards and executive committees of organizations including the United Way of Southeastern Idaho, Bright Tomorrows Child Advocacy Center, Big Momma's House (Transitional Housing for the Homeless), and Kind Community. She also completed the Leadership Pocatello/Chubbuck Program through their local Chamber of Commerce in 2018 and graduated from the 2024 Leadership Boise Program through the Boise Metro Chamber.


Dani enjoys spending time with her friends and family, attending all kinds of concerts (especially rock), baseball and hockey games, taking jazz, ballet and hip-hop classes, staying active with dance fitness and weightlifting, spending time outdoors, and spoiling her assortment of rescue pets...both cats and dogs.
ANITA OVERALL - DELTA AIR LINES

​Anita started with Delta Air Lines in 2009 at the Boise airport in Boise, Idaho.  Anita is a native Idahoan who also enjoyed living in the Mid-West, Pacific Northwest while growing up and then returning to Idaho in her High School years.  Since graduating from High School Anita has also attended and completed a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Northwest Nazarene University.  Anita’s love for travel and adventure began at a young age as her family would travel from Wisconsin to Idaho in the Summer to visit family and because as a teenager, she was an exchange student in Germany in a study abroad program. Later in life joining forces with Delta as a wife and young mother it seemed as though the doors of the world had been opened to her.  She quickly discovered the importance of culture within a corporate environment and programs that offered opportunities for growth.  Anita qualified for scholarships and took advantage of career growth that came her way.  Over the years she worked in many different roles within airport operations, Frontline Involvement Teams based in Atlanta, and the Delta Air Lines Sky Club in Salt Lake City.  During her career Anita has also been involved in Sales teams in larger metro areas on the West Coast always maintaining a home in the Treasure Valley.  In late 2022 Senior Delta leadership called and asked if she still lived in Boise and she was elated to hear that her hometown had become a focus market and they needed someone with in-depth knowledge of the area who could move quickly deepening the relationship between the customer, the airline and the community. 
LISA ROBERTS - BOISE SCHOOL DISTRICT​

 ​Lisa Roberts has spent 31 years serving the students in the
Boise School District. Mrs. Roberts has worked as an
elementary school teacher, principal, Administrator of Student
Programs, Area Director and spent the last five years serving
as the District’s Deputy Superintendent. Her appointment as
Superintendent of the Boise School District took effect July 1,
2024.

Mrs. Roberts is deeply committed to building strong relationships with all stakeholders. Currently, she serves on the City of Boise Community Trauma Response Leadership Team, on the Board of Directors for the Women’s and Children’s Alliance, and the St. Luke’s Community Health Board.
During her tenure, Mrs. Roberts has spearheaded and closely collaborated on several ongoing initiatives and projects in the District to better serve students, including Community Schools, Boise Pre-K programs, all-day kindergarten, AVID - Advancement
via Individual Determination (a program to prepare students for college and career success), facility planning and improvements, strategic planning, budgeting, and professional development.

​Jessica is the President and General Manager for KTVB and KTFT, the TEGNA owned NBC affiliate stations in Boise and Twin Falls, Idaho. Before making the move to Idaho, Jessica was Director of Sales for the KING 5 Media Group in Seattle. Jessica started her career in local news at Northwest Cable News before going on to various positions in local and national sales, business development and management.
 
Jessica eared a BA in Broadcast Journalism and Communication from the Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University, and her MBA from the Albers School at Seattle University with focused work in management of people, marketing, and emotional intelligence.
 
Outside of work, Jessica enjoys attending concerts, traveling, and spending time with her husband and sons. Jessica is proud to serve as a board member for the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights.
 
MEGAN RONK - IDAHO POWER company

​Megan Ronk was named Economic Development and Innovation Director for Idaho Power in 2018, where she is charged with engagement with commercial and industrial customers to meet their energy needs, and supporting the local communities that Idaho Power serves. Prior to joining Idaho Power, Ronk enjoyed a 16-year career in state government and public policy, most recently serving as the Director of Commerce for Idaho Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter. In that cabinet-level role, Ronk led economic development activities for the state, including business attraction, retention and expansion, international trade, tourism and rural development initiatives.
REBECCA HUPP - BOISE AIRPORT

​Rebecca Hupp has served as the Boise Airport Director for over a decade. Under her leadership the airport has experienced a period of unprecedented growth—both in the number of nonstop routes offered and in the number of passengers served, which has nearly doubled during her tenure. This exponential growth in passenger traffic led to BOI’s reclassification as a medium hub airport in 2021. Director Hupp’s passion for building strong teams, her constant pursuit of excellence, and focus on service to others and community guide her as she leads long-term planning and development of the airport in one of the fastest growing states in the country.
​CINDY BLENDU - CLEARWATER ANALYTICS

​Cindy is currently the Chief Transformation Officer at Clearwater Analytics, a high growth fintech based in Boise, Idaho. She leads HR, IT and Facilities and has recently taken a leadership role over the integrations of some recent acquisitions.  Most of Cindy’s experience has been working in or with companies to drive large scale change and transformation.  Prior to Clearwater, Cindy held leadership roles at Solera Holdings, Advantia Health, and CSC (now DXC Technology), and she spent her early career in consulting – 10 years at BCG and 3 years at Deloitte Consulting.  Cindy considers herself a Boise native.  She is married, has a young son, two rescue dogs and a rescue cat.

ABOUT THE YP SUMMIT

The Boise Metro Chamber & Boise Young Professionals' event, YP Summit, is held annually in the fall. Created in 2022, the YP Summit features leaders in our community via panel discussions focusing on topics that are critical to young professionals. The YP Summit offers leadership skills development and learning opportunities for future leaders of our community, a chance to have professional headshots taken, and time for networking. The interactive presentations and trainings provide attendees with the tools they need to advance their careers. It is the best conference for young professionals in the state of Idaho!
