Boise Bicycle Project Unveils Plans for Idaho Gives 2015

Boise Bicycle Project's Jimmy Hallyburton has an ambitious list of plans for this year's Idaho Gives, most notably to raise $50,000 for a bike community center and to turn Boise into the "bike capital of America". Hallyburton and his team at BBP have scheduled 24 events to take place in the 24 hours of Idaho Gives on May 7.

New Hotel for Downtown Boise

A new multi-million dollar hotel was just unanimously approved by the Boise Planning and Zoning Commission for downtown Boise. The Inn at 500 Capitol will break ground late this summer at the corner of Myrtle and Capitol, and hopes to open its doors in December of 2016.

Chamber CEO Bill Connors, Idaho Leaders Lobby For The Idaho Air National Guard

Boise Mayor Dave Bieter, Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter, Lt. Gov. Brad Little, U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo, U.S. Sen. Jim Risch, U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador, and Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce President Bill Connors held a press conference Thursday, Feb. 19, to discuss their lobbying effort with Secretary James to secure a new flying mission for the Idaho Air National Guard. Several elected officials, business owners, and community members have spent the past two days showing Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James why the Idaho Air National Guard shoudl be based in Boise.

Idaho Chamber Alliance's Lobbyist Developing Plan for Local Option Sales Tax

John Watts, a lobbyist for the Idaho Chamber Alliance (of which the Boise Chamber is an active member), is working with Sen. Chuck Winder (R-Boise) on a more acceptable version of a local option sales tax increase. Money raised from this tax increase could help cover utility costs and infrastructure or other public amenities like parks, projects that would help attract more businesses to Idaho. 

Boise Chamber Endorses Add the Words, Uber Amongst Other Local & State-Wide Issues

The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce has added several statewide and local issues to its 2015 legislative agenda. The local issues include support for the Gowen STRONG coalition, the LIV Boise Early Childhood Education Initiative, the St. Luke’s Master Plan, and Uber’s operations in Boise.
