Boise Chamber Endorses Add the Words, Uber Amongst Other Local & State-Wide Issues

The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce has added several statewide and local issues to its 2015 legislative agenda. The local issues include support for the Gowen STRONG coalition, the LIV Boise Early Childhood Education Initiative, the St. Luke’s Master Plan, and Uber’s operations in Boise.

Chamber Applauds Governor's Plan to Lower Idaho's Income Tax

On Monday during his State of the State address, Governor Butch Otter highlighted a five-year plan to reduce the state's income tax rate, a move that businesses in Idaho have been rallying in support of for several years. In a proposal to lower Idaho's corporate and individual income tax from 7.4 percent to 6.9 percent, Governor Otter's plan would  eventually eliminate the top tax bracket, affecting individual taxpayers earning $10,718 or more per year and couples filing jointly earning at least $21,436.

Chamber Announces New Board Chair & Chair-Elect

Kris J. Ormseth, Managing Partner of Stoel Rives LLP’s Boise office, is the new 2015 Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce Chairman of the Board of Directors. The Chamber also announced the selection of Ann Nelson, Audit Partner, KPMG, LLP, as Chair-Elect of the Board. Nelson will take over as Chair in 2016.

Olympic Gold Medalist Dara Torres Shared Her Triumphant Story at the Chamber’s Gala Dinner

Dara Torres, 5-time Olympian, winner of 12 medals, and author, shared her inspirational story at the Chamber’s 131st Annual Gala Dinner on Tuesday, October 7th, 2014. Torres competed in five Summer Olympic Games, becoming the first U.S. swimmer to ever do so, as well as the oldest swimmer to ever compete at age 41. Over the course of her distinguished career, Torres won twelve Olympic medals, including four gold, four silver, and four bronze.

b|launched 3.0 Funded Company Revealed

AgriGated, a company funded as a result of winning the Boise Young Professionals' b|launched 3.0 competition in April 2014, along with two of the b|launched Jr. teams from Centennial High School (Nolo Tag) and Timberline High School (Line Skipper), will present their companies to the public for the first time on Tuesday, November 18th, 2014 as part of “b|launched Revealed”.

Boise Chamber Receives Employer Support of the Guard & Reserve Seven Seals Award

In a ceremony at the Hero2Hired military hiring fair at the Ford Idaho Center on Tuesday, September 9th, the Chamber was recognized for its sustained work in supporting the employment of military personnel throughout the Boise community.

Chamber Once Again Supports BOI Transportation Grant

Last year, the Chamber led the Boise Airport's effort to secure a $700,000 U.S. Department of Transportation grant to bring new non-stop service from Boise to an east coast hub airport. Unfortunately, that grant was not awarded to BOI but that didn't stop us from trying again! As part of the effort, the Chamber committed $10,000 and called upon the businesses of the Boise region to the pledge their support as well. The response was, once again, overwhelming.
