BSU, Peregrine Fund Biologists Make National News with Lucky Peak Study

Peregrine Fund biologist, Dr. Chris McClure, in collaboration with Dr. Jesse Barber, Heidi Ware, and other scientists from Boise State and the Intermountain Bird Observatory created a phantom road on Lucky Peak to show that traffic noise drives songbirds away from forests and harms ones that stay behind.

Michael Jung Shares What He'll Miss About Boise, Names Local Business Leaders as Mentors

A few days ago, the Idaho Statesman's publisher Mike Jung, announced that Friday, August 21 will be his last day with the paper. Though he is excited to be moving back to Florida where he will head the News-Press in Fort Myers as president, Jung admits that the decision to leave Boise and the Statesman was "excruciatingly difficult." The Chamber is sad to see our friend go, but we wish him all the best!

Developers Announce 152-Room Downtown Hyatt Hotel

PEG Development, in conjunction with Rafanelli & Nehas unveiled plans this morning for Hyatt Place: a 152-room hotel set to be located at 1024 W. Bannock St. in downtown Boise. The project includes a fitness room, a spa, a full bar and meeting space.The hotel's developers have said that construction will take approximately 13 months and is set to begin in early November.

President Obama Signs Legislation Designating Boulder-White Clouds Region New Wilderness Area

After years of environmentalists' advocacy and a decade of support from Rep. Mike Simpson, R-Idaho, the Boulder-White Clouds region is now a protected wilderness area. Just three days ago, President Obama signed legislation granting the strongest level of protection given to public land to 275,665 acres to be designated as three separate wilderness areas: the Hemingway-Boulders Wilderness, the White Clouds Wilderness, and the Jim McClure-Jerry Peak Wilderness. 

Boise Metro Chamber Signs Partnership with Greater Bilbao Chamber

The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce today signed an agreement with the Greater Bilbao Chamber of Commerce, officially making the two sister Chambers.

Boise Bicycle Project Unveils Plans for Idaho Gives 2015

Boise Bicycle Project's Jimmy Hallyburton has an ambitious list of plans for this year's Idaho Gives, most notably to raise $50,000 for a bike community center and to turn Boise into the "bike capital of America". Hallyburton and his team at BBP have scheduled 24 events to take place in the 24 hours of Idaho Gives on May 7.
