Boise Metro Chamber Updates Local Issues Policy Agenda Ahead of City Elections

With an eye towards the upcoming City of Boise elections, the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce has released its 2015-2016 local issues policy agenda, which includes all of the local issues for which the organization is currently lobbying.

Developers Announce 152-Room Downtown Hyatt Hotel

PEG Development, in conjunction with Rafanelli & Nehas unveiled plans this morning for Hyatt Place: a 152-room hotel set to be located at 1024 W. Bannock St. in downtown Boise. The project includes a fitness room, a spa, a full bar and meeting space.The hotel's developers have said that construction will take approximately 13 months and is set to begin in early November.

President Obama Signs Legislation Designating Boulder-White Clouds Region New Wilderness Area

After years of environmentalists' advocacy and a decade of support from Rep. Mike Simpson, R-Idaho, the Boulder-White Clouds region is now a protected wilderness area. Just three days ago, President Obama signed legislation granting the strongest level of protection given to public land to 275,665 acres to be designated as three separate wilderness areas: the Hemingway-Boulders Wilderness, the White Clouds Wilderness, and the Jim McClure-Jerry Peak Wilderness.

We were pleased to hear that the bill passed the House yesterday and the Senate version could be up for consideration as early as this week.
