Leadership Boise Academy (LBA) was formed in 1984 by the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce to educate a diverse group of high school students in the Treasure Valley. LBA provides an opportunity for students to gain a better understanding of the current issues, resources, and opportunities available in their community. The Academy seeks motivated high school juniors who are interested in a dynamic learning environment and active engagement with current and emerging leaders in the business, corporate and non-profit sector. Through their participation, students will be encouraged to become more involved in addressing the critical issues facing our community and the role they can play in ensuring a bright future for the Boise Metro region.

The Academy recruits 50-55 junior-level students from more than 14 area high schools each Fall. The five-month program begins in January with a Saturday opening setting and conclude with a graduation ceremony in May. Monthly sessions include Government, Business, Legal/Social, and Media.

The goals of the program are:

  • To give students an opportunity to meet community leaders.
  • To provide meaningful and engaging sessions with premiere speakers, presentations, activities, and tours.
  • To encourage Academy participants and graduates to discover relevant issues and areas to get involved.
  • To develop leadership skills in our next generation of citizens.
