Leadership Boise has, and continues to seek, the best, brightest, most energetic and interested participants. As one of the oldest Chamber-sponsored leadership programs in the United States, Leadership Boise has graduated more than 1,400 civic leaders since its inception in 1975.
The purpose of Leadership Boise is to identify these new and potential leaders and to offer a comprehensive program that will:
Through monthly day-long sessions, participants receive an intensive examination of the Boise area, how it has developed and how it works. New perspectives for creative leadership are developed with the goal of giving participants the foundation needed to expand their leadership roles in the community.
The sessions from August through May cover:
Class size is limited and the application process is competitive. Each year, up to 54 participants are selected to join this distinguished program. Please check with your company to see if an internal process exists for selecting a candidate. Participants and their organizations must be willing to commit one day of each month to the program. Those selected will participate in all aspects of the two-year program: attending required sessions the first year and planning Leadership Boise and Leadership Boise Academy sessions in year two. The second year of the program is the most time-intensive due to planning meetings for upcoming sessions.
The 2017-2019 application process is open until April 14, 2017. Participant selection is made on the basis of a written application and a personal interview. More information can be found here.
Tuition for Leadership Boise is $1,950, payable upon acceptance into the class. Partial scholarships may be available for non-profits and small businesses with fewer than six employees. A letter requesting tuition assistance should accompany the application.
