Event Information:

Diane Davis Myklegard, a great grand-daughter of Julia Davis Park’s namesake, wants to ensure Idaho’s first regional park remains a valuable community resource long into the future. She recognizes that parks and green space – like the 89-acre park – are signs of Boise’s enterprising history, and vital to its thriving present.

Myklegard leads the Julia Davis Second Century Coalition in its efforts to give the park that turned 100 in 2007 a “new dress.” During a centennial celebration, a design competition yielded plans for updates to the park, including a gathering space for community events and concerts, the Make Your Mark Plaza and Agriculture Pavilion, the Trevor’s Trek Children’s Cancer Pavilion, and the Richard and Annette Bloch Cancer Survivor’s Pavilion. The coalition has completed much of the fundraising for these projects and has worked with the City of Boise to see to their completion. Myklegard and her crew are now working to complete their vision with the final project in the park, the Rotary Grand Plaza.
