Downtown Boise

Downtown Boise is the dynamic, prosperous and vibrant urban center of the Treasure Valley. It serves as the government, business, cultural and entertainment center for southwest Idaho and eastern Oregon. In total 44,000 people currently work in the downtown corridor. Downtown is home to the Idaho State Capitol, the Ada County Courthouse complex and Boise City Hall. The downtown financial community houses regional offices for US Bank, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Key Bank, Farmers & Merchants State Bank and Washington Mutual Bank, plus many more local banks and other investment and financial groups.

Business services, retail shops, restaurants, theaters, art galleries and event facilities are weaved among office buildings, government institutions, historical buildings, residential units, parking and open space-all combining into a rich vertical and horizontal urban texture.

From May through September, Alive After Five Summer Concert Series on the Grove Plaza is the place to be on Wednesday nights. Each month First Thursday attracts thousands to the downtown gallery stroll and late night retail. April to October the Capital City Farmers Market offers locally grown fruits, vegetables, fresh-cut flowers and specialty items.

Downtown Boise is flanked to the east and west by the region's two leading Regional Medical Centers-St. Luke's and Saint Alphonsus. Located adjacent to the south of the Central Business Districts sits the campus of Boise State University, the largest university in Idaho with 18,500 students. The North Central Business District is anchored by the Idaho State Capitol with the U.S. Federal office complex nearby.

The Downtown Boise Association is a non-profit organization made up of downtown business and property owners whose mission it is to be the leader in the development, promotion and operation of downtown Boise as a clean, safe and vibrant place to live, shop, work and play.
