The Cabin Presents Readings & Conversations, 2012-2013

BOISE – The Cabin welcomes four internationally-acclaimed authors to the Egyptian Theatre for the 2012-2013 Readings & Conversations series: Abraham Verghese, Anthony Doerr, Firoozeh Dumas and Andrew Ross Sorkin. Season tickets are now available for the series and can be purchased via The Cabin website, www.thecabinidaho.org or by calling (208) 331-8000. All events take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre. 

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

ABRAHAM VERGHESE, November 5, 2012

Abraham Verghese is a best-selling writer, physician and professor at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Cutting for Stone, his epic first novel, was published in 2009 and spent more than two years as a bestseller on The New York Times Paperback Fiction list. Dr. Verghese is widely known for his advocacy on behalf of patients, and as a lecturer on the topics of medicine, physician-patient relationships and writing.

ANTHONY DOERR, February 12, 2013

Anthony Doerr is the award-winning author of four books, The Shell Collector, About Grace, Four Seasons in Rome, and Memory Wall. His numerous accolades include a Guggenheim Fellowship, an NEA Fellowship, four O. Henry prizes for his short fiction, the 2010 Story Prize and two Pushcart Prizes.

 

FIROOZEH DUMAS, March 13, 2013

Firoozeh Dumas wrote a collection of colorful stories, inspired by her father, as a gift for her children. In 2003, the stories were published as Funny in Farsi. The book quickly ascended the Los Angeles Times and the San Francisco Chronicle bestseller lists and was a finalist for the PEN/USA award in 2004. Her second book, Laughing Without an Accent, was published in 2008.

Andrew Ross Sorkin is an author, columnist and editor at The New York Times and a leading voice on Wall Street and corporate America. His widely-acclaimed book, Too Big to Fail: The Inside Story of How Wall Street and Washington Fought to Save the Financial System and Themselves was a New York Times bestseller.

Readings & Conversations is celebrating 11 years as Idaho’s premiere annual series presenting internationally acclaimed literary figures who share their work, thoughts about their work, and perspectives on important issues of our time.
