Michael Jung Shares What He'll Miss About Boise, Names Local Business Leaders as Mentors

A few days ago, the Idaho Statesman's publisher Mike Jung, announced that Friday, August 21 will be his last day with the paper. Though he is excited to be moving back to Florida where he will head the News-Press in Fort Myers as president, Jung admits that the decision to leave Boise and the Statesman was "excruciatingly difficult." The Chamber is sad to see our friend go, but we wish him all the best! 

Boise Metro Chamber Announces Erin Nuxoll, J.R. Simplot Company, to Board of Directors

The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce today announced the selection of Erin Nuxoll, J.R. Simplot Company, to the Chamber’s Board of Directors. Erin Nuxoll is senior vice president of human resources and a member of the senior leadership team at the J. R. Simplot Company.

Dutch Bros. Coffee, a Chamber member since 2011, has locations all over the Treasure Valley and beyond.  When they aren’t serving up free smiles and a big variety of tasty coffee concoctions, Dutch Bros. works towards a bigger mission.  If you visit their website, you’ll find a list of all the news and events going on in the 200 coffee stand locations.  Most of the news bits are not about grand openings or promotional events, but about charity. 

ACCE Recognizes Boise Chamber Staff Members Ray Stark, Karena Boesel

While most of our senior staff are in Montreal attending the annual Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) conference, two of our own received career-defining accolades from the association. Our Senior Vice President, Ray Stark, was recognized for reaching 25 years of service to the Boise Chamber in 2015. The Chamber's Vice President of Membership, Karena Boesel, received  the Platinum Lifetime Sales Achievement Award in recognition of earning $750,000 in membership sales during her 16 years working at the Boise Chamber.

Developers Announce 152-Room Downtown Hyatt Hotel

PEG Development, in conjunction with Rafanelli & Nehas unveiled plans this morning for Hyatt Place: a 152-room hotel set to be located at 1024 W. Bannock St. in downtown Boise. The project includes a fitness room, a spa, a full bar and meeting space.The hotel's developers have said that construction will take approximately 13 months and is set to begin in early November.

President Obama Signs Legislation Designating Boulder-White Clouds Region New Wilderness Area

After years of environmentalists' advocacy and a decade of support from Rep. Mike Simpson, R-Idaho, the Boulder-White Clouds region is now a protected wilderness area. Just three days ago, President Obama signed legislation granting the strongest level of protection given to public land to 275,665 acres to be designated as three separate wilderness areas: the Hemingway-Boulders Wilderness, the White Clouds Wilderness, and the Jim McClure-Jerry Peak Wilderness. 

Boise Metro Chamber Signs Partnership with Greater Bilbao Chamber

The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce today signed an agreement with the Greater Bilbao Chamber of Commerce, officially making the two sister Chambers.

Bill Connors, President & CEO of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, and Unai Rementeria, the elected Premier of the Parliament of the Basque Territory of Bizkaia, signed the agreement at a ceremony Friday morning.

John Ondrasik of Five For Fighting to Headline Boise Metro Chamber’s 132nd Annual Gala Dinner

The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce recently announced that Grammy-nominated singer and songwriter John Ondrasik from Five For Fighting will headline the Chamber’s 132nd Annual Gala Dinner on Friday, October 2nd, 2015. Ondrasik, best known for his hits “Superman” and “100 Years”, is an inspirational speaker who moves between podium and piano to create a musical conversation with the audience.
