Friday Phone Calls, Part 6

Maybe it was the recent the full moon, or maybe it's just because Halloween is around the corner, but recent callers to the Boise Metro Chamber's front desk did not disappoint. 

"I hired a private investigator out of Kuna and I already paid him $600, but he called me back and said he didn’t find anything and I had to give him more money. Would he be under your jurisdiction?"

"We are moving to Boise and wanted to know if you know of any pest control companies for sale. We will be waiting to hear from you."

Students Stop by the Chamber

While the Boise Metro Chamber receives a lot of inquisitive walk-in visitors (and phone calls), few are ever this young. Yesterday afternoon, a group of seventh grade students from Anser Public Charter School stopped by our office with clipboards in hand. They wanted to know- "What makes Boise so much better than other cities?" Our Senior Vice-President Ray Stark was more than happy to tell them why Boise is special, and what the Chamber does for the city's business community.

United Heritage Life Insurance Company, a Boise Metro Chamber member for 27 years, was recently named to the Ward’s 50 Benchmark Group of life-health insurance companies in the U.S. This prestigious award was given in recognition of outstanding safety, consistency and performance in the five year period as analyzed by the Ward Group from 2010 to 2014.

b|launched 4.0 Winning Company Revealed

relEVENTcity, the winner of the Boise Young Professionals’ b|launched 4.0 competition, will present their company to the public for the first time on Tuesday, November 10th, 2015  at Trailhead as part of “b|launched Revealed”. relEVENTcity is a mobile event recommendation application that matches an individual’s preferences with local events in their city to create relevant, customized, and serendipitous event recommendations.

Boise Metro Chamber Updates Local Issues Policy Agenda Ahead of City Elections

With an eye towards the upcoming City of Boise elections, the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce has released its 2015-2016 local issues policy agenda, which includes all of the local issues for which the organization is currently lobbying.

Dedication Ceremony for Newly-Constructed I-84 Broadway and Gowen Interchanges

The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and Treasure Valley leaders hosted a ceremony on Tuesday, September 15th to dedicate the new Interstate 84 interchanges at Broadway Avenue and Gowen Road. The two newly-rebuilt interchanges and widened interstate will increase capacity, improve safety, and enhance the flow of traffic of I-84 in east Boise.

BSU, Peregrine Fund Biologists Make National News with Lucky Peak Study

Peregrine Fund biologist, Dr. Chris McClure, in collaboration with Dr. Jesse Barber, Heidi Ware, and other scientists from Boise State and the Intermountain Bird Observatory created a phantom road on Lucky Peak to show that traffic noise drives songbirds away from forests and harms ones that stay behind.
