Western Aircraft Unveils New Expansion

Congratulations to our friends at Western Aircraft, a loyal Chamber member of ten years, for their recent expansion! The company held a ribbon cutting last Wednesday afternoon to unveil new construction that includes more than $2.3 million in new facilities and more than $2.4 million in facility improvements and specialized tooling. Additionally, due to the added business, Western Aircraft has increased staffing from 150 to 200 employees.

President of Western Aircraft Jeff Mihalic mentioned that Western’s business expansion was driven in large part by the sales tax exemption on installed parts passed by the Idaho legislature in 2012 and the growth of Western’s capabilities and sales force. Western Aircraft and the Boise Chamber worked together to have the sales tax exemption on installed parts passed a few years ago. Martin Ackerman, owner of Signs By Tomorrow, attended the ribbon cutting as a  Chamber Ambassador team leader. He said, “Western Aircraft really played an instrumental role in helping the Chamber back that legislation.  Its passing has stimulated a lot of economic growth here in Boise.” Ackerman then commented on the ribbon cutting, which the Chamber helped Western promote, “It was nice to see the Chamber and Western Aircraft working together again today.”
