Meet ACHD Director Bruce Wong - a man who lives by 'service before self'

You might expect Ada County Highway District Director Bruce Wong to tell you about the important trends in his industry – and he will. But he’ll also tell you his favorite hobby in the summer is to ride his Harley. Did you know?

Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce CEO Bill Connors stopped by ACHD to visit Bruce and catch up on the new and evolving projects in the Treasure Valley. We were fortunate to not only get face-to-face time with Bruce, but get to know him more.

As Idaho's premier and largest Highway District, Bruce and his team of 330 team members are busy serving 436,000 customers. They are responsible for $3,000,000,000 of infrastructure incorporating 4783 miles of road ways and operating with a $100,000,000 annual budget.

ACHD is governed by five elected officials who set policy for the District and whose authority stems from the Legislature. ACHD incorporates all planning, project management, engineering, maintenance, contract, permitting, and stormwater operations, and operates a profitable alternate transportation system called Commuteride.
