Georgia On Our Mind

The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Boise Airport recently announced their effort to secure a U.S. Department of Transportation grant for a nonstop flight to Atlanta. The grant is supported by carrier Delta Airlines and the local business community, who have pledged more than $265,000 in financial support to bolster the grant application. As the lead community organization for this process, the Chamber wants to thank the Boise Valley business community for their commitments and support.

The grant through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Small Community Air Service Development Program would help offset the startup costs and risk during the first one to two years of a new route’s operation. Prior to tapping into the cash commitments, the Boise Airport would have to win the grant, secure the new flight, and see the route fall short of its revenue goal.

Business and organizations pledging financial support include A10 Capital, LLC, BMC, Block 22, LLC (The Grove Hotel, CenturyLink Arena, & the Idaho Steelheads), the Boise Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Boise Valley Economic Partnership, Clearview Cleaning, the Idaho Department of Commerce’s Division of Tourism, Idaho Power Company, the City of Boise, the City of Caldwell, the Greater Boise Auditorium District, the Idaho Statesman, Intermountain Gas Company, Gardner Company, Micron Technology, Inc., MWI Veterinary Supply, Inc., Regence BlueShield of Idaho, and United Heritage Insurance.
