Dedication Ceremony for Newly-Constructed I-84 Broadway and Gowen Interchanges

The Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce and Treasure Valley leaders hosted a ceremony on Tuesday, September 15th to dedicate the new Interstate 84 interchanges at Broadway Avenue and Gowen Road. The two newly-rebuilt interchanges and widened interstate will increase capacity, improve safety, and enhance the flow of traffic of I-84 in east Boise.

“I-84 in the east Treasure Valley is the gateway to Boise, Boise State University, and our vibrant downtown area,” said Bill Connors, President & CEO of Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce. “These two new interchanges will meet our transportation needs and position the entire community for further economic growth and prosperity.”

ITD has rebuilt Broadway Avenue at I-84 into a Single-Point Urban Interchange (SPUI), similar to the design at Vista Avenue and Ten Mile Road. A new diamond interchange replaced the previous one at Gowen Road. Longer, wider ramps have been built at both to allow traffic more room for merging on and off the interstate. Curb, gutter, sidewalk and bicycle lanes have also been added on Broadway Avenue and Gowen Road to safely accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists.
