Chamber Once Again Supports BOI Transportation Grant

Last year, the Chamber led the Boise Airport's effort to secure a $700,000 U.S. Department of Transportation grant to bring new non-stop service from Boise to an east coast hub airport. Unfortunately, that grant was not awarded to BOI but that didn't stop us from trying again! As part of the effort, the Chamber committed $10,000 and called upon the businesses of the Boise region to the pledge their support as well. The response was, once again, overwhelming.

More than 20 private companies and organizations came forward, pledging over $270,000 to the recruitment of the proposed new service to Atlanta, Georgia. Donations ranged from $1,000 to $20,000 from a variety of companies and organizations including A10 Capital, LLC, Block 22, LLC (The Grove Hotel, CenturyLink, and the Idaho Steelheads), BMC, Boise Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), Boise Valley Economic Partnership (BVEP), Clearview Cleaning, Gardner Company, Idaho Power Company, Idaho Statesman, Intermountain Gas Company, Micron Technology, Inc., MWI Veterinary Supply, Inc., POWER Engineers, Inc., Regence BlueShield of Idaho, and United Heritage Insurance. In addition, the Cities of Boise and Caldwell, the State of Idaho Division of Tourism Development, and the Greater Boise Auditorium District (GBAD) together pledged another $100,000.

Competition for these grant awards is always stiff, but this demonstration of community support will be a crucial factor when the DOT is deciding which applications to select for funding. Thank you to all our members who pledged their support!
