BYP Hosts "Do Good. Have Fun." Project & Cleans Up Local Park

The Boise Young Professionals (BYP) lead  more than 50 volunteers in a revitalization of the Jefferson Street Community Garden this Saturday, July 19th at 21st & Jefferson St. in Boise. The garden is managed by Neighborhood Housing Services.

Volunteers in matching shirts worked for over four hours to collect and properly dispose of 1,000 pounds of trash and green waste from the area. They also planted trees, installed three compost stations, and built new picnic tables to create a charming seating area for park patrons. Local radio station Wild 101 kept the volunteers pumped up throughout the day and following the cleanup, complimentary lunch and beer were served.

"BYP was thrilled to pull off Idaho's "Do Good. Have Fun." event this summer," said Emily Koleno, BYP Community & Civic Involvement Team Chair-Elect. "We were proud of our volunteers' hard work in support of Neighborhood Housing Services and of the over 300 volunteer hours donated to our community."

BYP secured a community grant through Keep America Beautiful to host the “Do Good. Have Fun.” cleanup project. The program is designed to engage consumers coast-to-coast in community refreshment projects at more than 50 events across the country.
