BVEP's New Video Supports the Efforts of Gowen Strong

Supporting business.  Building community.  Strengthening families. For the Boise Metro, Gowen Field represents all of those things. Partnering with the City of Boise, Boise Airport, Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, and Idaho Power, the Boise Valley Economic Partnership (BVEP) has launched a new video to promote Gowen Strong, a community effort to illustrate the regional impact of Gowen Field.

Featured in the video are testimonials illustrating how much Gowen impacts the lives and businesses of those in the Boise Metro area. Tom Shuler, a Corporal for the Boise Police Department as well as a Colonel and Director of Strategic Plans for the Idaho Air National Guard, explains, “Moving back to Boise was huge for my wife and I. The fact that Gowen Field exists let me do that.”Chris and Jenny Taylor from Fisher’s Technology share their story of how Gowen has impacted them personally and professionally.  Jeff Heath with Business Interiors of Idaho also shares his insights on how Gowen has significantly shaped his family’s company over the last 30 years.

Gowen Strong is a community effort to preserve military resources in Boise and favorably position the Idaho National Guard and Gowen Field for future changes and potential expansion. The estimated economic impact of Gowen Field on the Boise Metro is $210 million and there are over 2,800 direct and indirect employees.

Darrel Anderson, President & CEO of Idaho Power explains, “This effort is critical to our economy’s future success. Those who serve and work at Gowen Field capture part of the reason the Boise Metro is so special. They contribute to the vitality of the region as they stand ready to serve their state, country and community.”

Several of Idaho's leaders, including Chamber CEO and President Bill Connors, held a press conference last week to discuss their lobbying effort with Secretary James to secure a new flying mission for the Idaho Air National Guard.
