Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce Honored as Three-Star Chamber of Valor

Recently, our Chamber received wonderful news. Last month, we submitted an application for the U.S. Chamber's "Chamber of Valor" program and were honored to learn that we have been recongized as a three-star Chamber of Valor. Programs & Events Assistant Jackie Wright explains, "The Chamber of Valor distinction acknowledges the contributions of local chambers, industry associations, and business development organizations that join the Hiring Our Heroes mission of finding meaningful employment for veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses."

Chamber of Valor award recipients submitted applications to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation to be considered for the award. Applications were scored by U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation staff and honorees were awarded at the one-, two, and three-star levels.

Last week, the Chamber received a letter from Eric Eversole, Vice President of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Executive Director of Hiring our Heroes, who wrote, "The work that you have done and continue to do on the grassroots level provides the foundation for Hiring Our Heroes to impact as many military families as possible... You will soon receive a Certificate of Appreciation as a Three Star Chamber of Valor. We hope you will display it proudly in your place of business as a small token of our appreciation for the hard work you do to support the Hiring Our Heroes mission."

After hearing the news, Jackie was overjoyed. She even took to her personal Facebook page to announce, "Today, we learned the Boise Metro Chamber was named a three-star Chamber of Valor award recipient. The highest level of distinction!"

The honor and cause are close to Jackie's heart, as she is not only a valued employee of the Boise Metro Chamber of Commerce, but also a military spouse.

Jackie said, "I am humbled and grateful to have the Boise Metro Chamber be awarded the honor of a three-star Chamber of Valor designation. My experience as a military spouse has really shown me how difficult it can be for a service member or their spouse to attain employment. The Hero2Hired events and the PTSD workshops help tremendously in breaking down any barriers that exist between veterans and employers. I am happy to be a member of such a great organization that is the Boise Metro Chamber."

If you'd like to know more about the Hero2Hired program or upcoming Chamber events for veterans and military spouses, feel free to give us a call at the Chamber. We'd love to hear from you!
